New Delhi, June 6: According to army sources, on the intervening night of June 5-6, gunfire between security forces and a group of militants (suspected Kuki insurgents) resulted in the death of one Border Security Force (BSF) jawan and two bullet wounds for Assam Rifles troops in the Serou district of Manipur.
According to a statement from the Indian Army’s Spear Corps, “One BSF jawan sustained fatal injuries while two Assam Rifles personnel sustained gunshot wounds (GSW) in general area Serou”.
According to army officials, the injured Assam Rifles man was airlifted to Mantripukhri.
“Extensive area domination operations by Assam Rifles, BSF and Police undertaken in areas of Sugnu/Serou in Manipur. Intermittent firing between security forces and group of insurgents took place throughout night of June 5-6. Security forces effectively retaliated to the fire,” officials said.

The search operation is going on in the area.
According to Army officials, on Saturday, Area Domination Operations in the hills and valleys of Manipur were started by the Army, Assam Rifles, police and CAPFs.
