New Delhi, Feb 12: Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest automobile manufacturer, is on track to become the country’s largest car exporter in FY22.

The achievement was accomplished after an 11-year hiatus, with fresh Baleno leading the group.

In the calendar year 2021, the carmaker exported 205,450 vehicles.

Maruti Suzuki India’s Senior Executive Director, Sales and Marketing, Shashank Srivastava, told IANS that the business has already shipped around 206,000 vehicles to foreign markets in calendar year 2021.

“This financial year also we should be doing something like 220,000 units. Maruti is now the largest exporter of cars in India,” he said.

Apart from exports, Srivastava believes that the high Capex outlined in the Union Budget for FY23 will be another driver of demand.

“There is no doubt that more Capex capital will benefit the sector in the long run.”

In addition, the reopening of contact-intensive sectors like education is projected to boost demand, he said.

Furthermore, the company intends to provide a flood of new and improved products to the market.

It recently began accepting reservations for its latest generation Baleno.
