Ranchi: A high-level committee formed to investigate alleged irregularities in the procurement of security equipment for the Jharkhand Police held its first meeting at the police headquarters on Tuesday. The meeting was chaired by the Additional Director General (ADG) of Operations.
Probe Ordered After Whistleblower Complaint
The five-member investigative committee was constituted by the Director General of Police (DGP) on June 16. The order to form the committee came after a senior officer of IG rank, acting as a whistleblower, reported the alleged discrepancies to senior officials and the government. The committee has been directed to conduct a thorough investigation of all files related to the procurement and submit a clear report within 15 days. The probe was initiated based on the whistleblower’s report which recommended an investigation into the serious financial irregularities in the purchase of security equipment.
