Ranchi, May 15: Jamshedpur East’s MLA cum former state minister Saryu Roy has warned the state government to take the matter in the court, if the government fails to take any concrete action to prosecute the accused convicted in the Manhart scam till May 21.

In a press statement issued on Sunday, Saryu Roy said that in the Manhart scam, the Jharkhand High Court has given a clear order twice so far that “the applicant should go to the Commissioner / Secretary of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) to file a suit, if facts are there then the bureau will take action.”

“A preliminary inquiry was conducted by the Bureau. The accused were identified in the investigation, their guilt was proved. The investigator submitted the investigation report 6 months ago. The then Urban Development Minister has been found guilty and his name is number one on the list of accused. The file to take action on after registering an FIR with the senior officers of the Bureau has been pending since then,” he added.

Roy further said that he had raised the matter through a short informed question. Replying to the government on March 20, the Parliamentary Affairs Minister informed the House that within two months, the government would take action against the convicted accused.

“Today is 15th. It is sad that less than a week is left for the assurance of the government in the assembly to be fulfilled. The government seems to be under pressure on this matter,” he added.

Roy added that if the government’s assurance given in the Legislative Assembly is not fulfilled by May 21, 2022, then they will take the matter in the court. He would give a contempt notice to the Speaker against the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs.
