Dhanbad Aug 16: A single student out of 21 postgraduate (PG) seats reserved under the all-India quota took admission at the state government-owned Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College Hospital (MGMMCH) Jamshedpur after the completion of the first counselling.
An official of MGMMCH admission cell today said that the first counselling for the all-India quota of postgraduate seats was conducted from August 8 to August 14 in which a single candidate took admission to the MD paediatrics course.
“Now as per National Medical Commission (NMC) the admission programme for the first counselling under the state quota on PG seats would be conducted from August 15 to August 21,” the official added.
MGMMCH Jamshedpur has a total of 45 diploma and MD/MS seats in PG of which 50% are reserved for students under the all-India quota.
In Jharkhand, the postgraduate (PG) course is taught only at the state government-owned Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College Hospital Jamshedpur. Now Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) Dhanbad has also applied for it in selected subjects.
MGMMCH has the highest six seats in medicine followed by five in (MS) general surgery, four each in paediatrics and pathology, three in orthopaedics and two each in physiology, anatomy, radiotherapy and other subjects. Besides it, radiodiagnosis (2), child health (2) and obstetrics and gynaecology (2) have seats in the diploma.
Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) Ranchi, an autonomous body, has around 200 seats in total including clinical and non-clinical in which 50% of them are reserved for students under the all-India quota.
