Ranchi: Following petrol and diesel price pressures, milk has now become more expensive across major dairy brands, with Medha Dairy joining Amul and Mother Dairy in raising prices by Rs 2 per litre, adding to the burden on household budgets already strained by rising inflation.

Medha Dairy’s New Rates

Medha Dairy has increased prices across all variants. Double toned milk now costs Rs 52 per litre, up from Rs 50, while toned milk has risen from Rs 54 to Rs 56 per litre. The 6-litre packet now costs Rs 324 instead of Rs 312, and the full cream gold 6-litre pack has gone up by Rs 18 to Rs 396. Cow milk, Shakti milk, and Shakti Special have also become Rs 1 to Rs 2 more expensive.

Mother Dairy Also Revises Prices

Mother Dairy has raised prices by Rs 2 per litre across variants. Full cream milk now costs Rs 72 per litre, toned milk has gone up from Rs 58 to Rs 60, double toned milk now stands at Rs 54, and cow milk has increased from Rs 60 to Rs 62 per litre. The company cited rising production costs, operational expenses, and supply chain pressure due to the West Asia crisis as reasons for the hike.

Amul Had Already Raised Prices

Amul had announced a Rs 2 per litre hike earlier this week. Buffalo milk now costs Rs 75 per litre, up from Rs 73, Amul Gold has risen from Rs 67 to Rs 69, and Amul Taaza from Rs 55 to Rs 57 per litre. Amul also attributed the hike to rising input costs and supply chain disruptions caused by the West Asia crisis.

Kitchen Budget Under Pressure

Dairy traders say companies are being forced to raise prices due to rising animal feed costs, transport expenses, and overall production costs. Consumers say the continuous rise in prices of daily essentials is making household budgets increasingly difficult to manage.
