Dhanbad, Oct 11: Unidentified miscreants, on Monday morning, set three cabins of mobile portable toilets of Deoghar Municipal Corporation (DMC) on fire that were kept at Raja Bagicha ground near New Municipal Corporation Office.
Deoghar Town Commissioner Shailendra Kumar Lal was on leave but DMC City Manager Satish Kumar said that fire was detected at around 11 am and before the fire tender vehicles could reach the spot, all three cabins of mobile portable toilets had almost been burnt down completely.
“An inquiry committee has been set to probe the mysterious incident as there are no sources of fire around the spot where the cabins were kept. However, I am going to the spot for inspection of the incident and would make any comment only after that”, said Satish Kumar.
An eyewitness of the incident said that the mobile cabins could have been saved from being burnt if the fire tender vehicle reached there immediately after getting the information.
“Fire broke in the first cabin at around 10 am. But the fire tender vehicle reached the spot after an hour, at around 11 am. Till then all the three cabins had caught fire. I had informed the fire tender office, DMC officials and senior authorities of the district administration timely but no one took the matter seriously”, said the eye witness to the media.
Local people said it was not an accident, albeit an act of miscreants to sabotage the property of DMC. A DMC official said that these mobile portable toilets are used in Shrawan Mela and other religious festivals when lakhs of devotees visit Babadham every year.
