Dumka, April 3: Staging a show of defiance against the chief minister Hemant Soren in particular and the party at large the senior JMM leader and Borio MLA Lobin Hembrom addressed a massive rally of his supporters in his home turf on Sunday to press for the demand for introducing state’s domicile policy on the basis of 1932 land survey records.
Lobin who has throughout advocated for the 1932 land records based domicile policy has now led the battle against none other than the chief minister and working President of the JMM Hemant Soren ever since the latter expressed the inability of his government to oblige the protesters citing legal complications involved in the same.
Addressing a massive crowd mostly comprising tribal community members including a significant number of women supporters from across the Borio assembly constituency at Shibu Soren Tribal College ground in Borio, Lobin dared the party leadership to oust him saying he could win the election even if been denied party ticket.
“I am being humiliated despite being one of the most senior leaders of the JMM for demanding the fulfilment of a commitment (the 1932 based domicile policy) the party had made while campaigning in the last assembly elections. I can be ousted from the party but not from the Mati (Soil),” said MLA Lobin hitting back at a section of JMM leadership having termed his move to be an instance of anti-party activity.
Marking a sarcastic note against the state government Lobin asked whom the vacancies were being published for without having the domicile policy.
“Unlike other states where locals occupy plummy posts tribals and other aboriginal groups are meant for recruitment as night guards,” Lobin remarked adding it was high time for Hemant Soren to come to the senses and introduce the domicile policy based on the 1932 based land records to save Jharkhand from burning.
Meanwhile, none of Lobin’s supporters carried JMM flags or for that matter as common party cadres barring a few ones being closed to Lobin, preferred to distance themselves from the event.
Sahebganj district president of the JMM Shahjahan Ansari apparently on such instance of the party’s top leadership had issued the diktat to the party cadres to not to attend Lobin’s rally violating which would amount to anti-party activity.
The district administration too had not permitted for organising the rally citing Covid protocols but in vain.
Prominent among those who addressed the gathering include Mandal Murmu, a member of the descendants family of the martyr brothers Sido and Kanhu of the Santhal rebellion, Lobin’s Son Ajay Hembrom, Abdul Jabbar, Nand Lal Sah, Tala Marandi, Tala Hasda and Samu Baski.
