New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while participating in the Lok Sabha debate on the Delimitation Bill, assured opposition parties that no state would face discrimination in the delimitation process. He said the guarantee comes directly from him and promised a fair approach for all states.
Assurance on Delimitation Process
The Prime Minister said the exercise would strengthen democracy and help shape the future political direction of the country. He added that such historic moments create lasting institutions and opportunities for national progress.
Modi noted that the reform should have been implemented 25 to 30 years ago and said the country has already delayed it for too long. He urged all parties to accept the need for the process and move forward together.
Message on Women’s Reservation
Speaking on women’s reservation, the Prime Minister said it is a proud moment for Parliament to include half the population more strongly in the nation-building process. He appealed to all lawmakers not to miss this opportunity.
He also said history shows that those who oppose women receiving political rights have faced political setbacks. According to him, no party openly opposed the move during the 2024 elections, which helped avoid such conflict.
Call for Collective Progress
Modi said India, known as the mother of democracy, has a long civilisational journey of development. He added that if all parties work together, the outcome will not benefit any one side alone but will strengthen Indian democracy as a whole.
