Mumbai, Feb 3: In connection with a complaint filed against him for singing and posting an allegedly filthy song to the internet, a district court in Maharashtra’s Nagpur has ordered musician Yo Yo Honey Singh to appear before a local police station to submit his voice sample.

According to the reports, Honey Singh was charged in 2015 for the song by one Anandpal Singh Jabbal. However, there is no mention of a song in the complaint. The singer was charged under Indian Penal Code Sections 292, 293 (obscenity) and Information Technology Act Sections 67, 67A based on the complaint.

In October 2015, the Sessions Court in Nagpur granted him anticipatory relief, subject to certain conditions.

SASM Ali, a district and extra sessions judge, ordered the singer-rapper to appear at Nagpur’s Panchpaoli Police Station between February 4 and 11. The court issued the order while hearing an application filed by the artist seeking a waiver of a travel restriction imposed on him.

In response to his appeal for a waiver of his bail restrictions, the court ordered him to record a voice sample.

The case’s investigating officer objected to his application, claiming that the musician was expected to appear at the police station on January 25, but had neglected to do so and had told the officer via email of his incapacity to do so.

According to the investigating officer, the singer was not complying with the investigation, and if he is allowed to fly, he will not be able to appear in court.

Honey Singh’s application was granted after he convinced the court that he was willing to submit a voice sample. The musician was allowed to fly to Dubai between January 29 and February 4, but the court required him to report to the police station between February 4 and 11.
