New Delhi, July 18: Narinder Batra, Veteran sports administrator, resigned as International Hockey Federation (FIH) President and International Olympic Committee member (IOC) on Monday.
When the Delhi High Court on May 25 abolished the position of “Life member” in Hockey India, which he had previously run for and won in the IOA elections in 2017, Batra resigned as the organization’s president.
Batra formally offered his resignation from the IOA, IOC, and FIH in three different letters.
“Due to personal reasons I submit my resignation from the post of President FIH,” Batra wrote to the Executive Board of FIH.
Batra’s IOC membership was connected to the IOA president, therefore his departure from the FIH was unexpected given that he had stated in May that he wanted to concentrate on his role with the international hockey organisation.
