Ramgarh, Jan 14: A national vaccination campaign against polio will be conducted across the country on February 27 under the aegis of Rotary Club.

Children of zero to five years of age will be given anti-polio doses. This decision was taken in the state coordination meeting held under the aegis of the club.

This virtual meeting was organized by PDG Jogesh Gambhir Coordinator Rotary Pulse Polio India, Dr AK Singh President Indian Medical Association, World Health Organization Jharkhand Head Dr Amarendra, Dr Rajesh Kumar Secretary Allied Health Professionals, Dr Raman Kumar President Indian Academy of Pediatrics, Chairman Mukesh  Taneja and Dr. Shashibhushan Khalkho, representatives of World Health Organization and club attended.  Everyone discussed ways for making the campaign 100 percent successful.

“The biggest problem is now in urban areas. Educated people understand that we have got it done earlier, so now we do not need this free ticket. Every child needs to survive until we can conquer polio. For this, we will try to reach all the societies of the urban area under the special drive,” said Dr. Amarendra.

It was decided that the children would be given medicine on the said date. Apart from this, a door to door campaign will be started on 28th and 29th February to reach the left-out children.  In this entire work, people of all organizations will be active and discharge their responsibilities.

Polio coordinator Mukesh Taneja said that the help of Rotary’s organization Rotaract will also be taken in the entire campaign.  In order to make the entire campaign successful, all the organizations, doctors and health workers related to the medical field will put stamps on the slips used in their daily work to promote vaccination day, so that the information related to vaccination can reach as many people as possible.

Apart from this, all the malls, shopping complexes and big establishments of the city will also be made part of this campaign. Wide publicity will also be done through social media.

It was told in the meeting that although there are no cases of polio in India but cases are still coming up in other countries of the world like Pakistan and Afghanistan. In such a situation, India needs to run polio drives continuously.

Club President Kanta Modi, Secretary Amit Agarwal, former Governor Rajiv Modi, Dr. Anil Pandey, Dr. Bhavna Taneja and Praveen Rajgarhia were present in the meeting.
