National Sports Day: DPS Ranchi hosts basketball match to promote sports spirit

Ranchi, Aug 29: Commemorating the birth anniversary of the hockey maestro Major Dhyan Chand and with an aim to promote the spirit of sports and physical fitness among the students, Delhi Public School Ranchi celebrated National Sports Day on Monday.

A basketball match was organised for the students of Classes VI to XII on the occasion. Two teams with 12 players each were formed for this match. Team ‘Lucious’ consisted of the students of Classes VI to X while Team ‘Kakarot’ had the students of Classes XI and XII. Team Lucious emerged as the winners of the match (37-33).

Principal Dr. Ram Singh said, “Sports are very important for physical fitness as well as mental health. Through participation in sports and games, a student gains various skills, experience, and confidence that are helpful for developing their personality.”

He also congratulated all the students on their active participation in sports and games and exhorted them to keep up the sportsman spirit in its true sense.
