Ranchi, Nov 1: The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) is set to provide one-year Diploma Course in Guidance and Counselling to teachers. The application for enrollment in this course is available on the NCERT website till November 12, 2022. The course will be conducted in three modes namely distance, face-to-face and internship.
Teachers said that the main objective of NCERT is to promote the holistic development of students and to make teachers skilled enough to solve the academic, social, emotional and moral problems of students. Teachers, educators, school administrators and untrained guidance personnel can participate in the course.
Officials stated that the course will be completed in three phases. The first phase will be distance learning which will be six-month long. This will be followed by a face-to-face programme of three months and an internship at the end of this phase. Internships will be provided in the home town or workplace only. In this course, enrollment will be taken on only 50 seats in a total of three study centres.
First of all, the candidates will be screened for enrollment. The shortlisted candidates will then sit for an offline test wherein the test will include essay writing and an interview. The interested candidates must have a post-graduate degree in Psychology, Education, Social Work, Child Development, or Special Education. Teachers with undergraduate degrees and a teaching degree along with two years of teaching experience may also participate.
Candidates working in central government-funded institutions will have to pay Rs 19,500 as a course fee, while candidates working in state or union territory institutions will have to deposit Rs 6,000. Meanwhile, candidates from private institutions will have to pay Rs 30,000 as fees.
