Ranchi, Sept 5: The Chairperson of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), Priyank Kanoongo, who is in Dumka with his team to probe two minor girls’ deaths questioned police investigation and state administration on Monday over the murder case of Ankita Singh. He also informed that the report will be published by next week.
“There are loopholes in police investigation. A higher agency should investigate this. By next week we can publish our report. DSP is helping accused, we’ll ask state govt to take action,” said P Kanoongo, NCPCR Chairperson.
“Accused’s brother has threatened relatives of victim, police has not registered FIR on this. Requested police to file FIR and arrest him,” he added.
He also claimed that the state government was trying to obstruct investigations. According to Kanoongo, the government was informed about the visit, but necessary arrangements have not been made to aid the inquiry.
Priyank Kanoongo (@KanoongoPriyank) September 5, 2022
Notably, a 14-year-old tribal girl was found hanging from a tree. The accused, identified as Arman Ansari, has been arrested and a case has been registered under relevant sections of IPC, POCSO and SC & ST Act.
Just days prior to that, on August 23, Ankita Singh (16) was set on fire by accused Shahrukh.
