Ranchi, Nov 10: As the new building of Sadar Hospital is about to get operational in a few days, the Ranchi civil surgeon feels that it is important to pack up the manpower as soon as possible for the smooth functioning of the hospital.
Talking to lagatar24.com, Ranchi Civil Surgeon Vinod Kumar said that currently, around 55 to 56 doctors are working in Sadar Hospital which includes doctors from Ayush and NRHM. He said that these doctors work in the old building which has around 300 beds and in the newly-built building which has 500 beds, more doctors are needed.
He added that the matter related to manpower appointment is pending for an investigation with the Ranchi SDO and no decision has been taken on it. He added that the hospital has started partly functioning but will be properly working in the coming few days as the manpower increases.
The Health Department filed an affidavit in the Jharkhand High Court on Wednesday, stating that the building has been taken over and services are being started in the new building. The matter is to be heard in the High Court on November 11.
Notably, the construction of this building was going on for 14 years. At the end of 2007, the foundation stone of this 500-bed hospital was laid by the then Health Minister Bhanu Pratap Shahi. It was to be completed in the year 2012.
A 200-bed hospital started as Mother and Child Care in August 2017 after Jyoti Sharma filed a PIL in 2016, but the ICU could not be started even after the order of the Supreme Court. The government gave an undertaking in the High Court that the remaining 300-bed hospital would be started in 2018, which again, did not happen. The case of contempt is going on since 2019.
Notably, many state-of-the-art machines have been installed in the new hospital for facilities like OT Management, Ground Water Management, Sterilization, Mechanized Laundry, Sewerage Drainage Systems, Refrigeration, and Centralized Air Conditioning.
