Ranchi, Feb.12: In order to corner those involved in funding Maoists to carry out their extremism, NIA conducted raids at 26 locations in different states of the country including Bihar and Jharkhand besides Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.
During the raid, the investigating agency recovered three country-made pistols, a .315 bore rifle, several digital devices, Maoist literature, incriminating documents and four kg of suspected narcotics.
In Jharkhand the raid was conducted in Koderma while the same work was done in Jehanabad, Patna Rural, Arwal, Nalanda, Gaya, Nawada and Aurangabad in Bihar. In Odisha, the location of the raid remained Bhubaneswar while in Andhra the place of raid remained Nellore.
The NIA had taken the help of police, special task force and CRPF to avoid any untoward incident during the raid conducted simultaneously to give no scope to the fund provided to do any manipulation.
The action was taken after NIA got information that in Magadh region of Bihar the CPI-Maoist organization is desperately trying to raise funds for the purchase of arms and ammunition to carry forward the nefarious designs. It came into the knowledge of the probe agency that accused are also recruiting new cadres in contact with the help of Maoists and Over Ground Workers (OGWs) lodged in various jails to revive and strengthen extremist activities in the region.
