Dhanbad March 8: Putting aside all speculation on fighting the 2024 poll, three-time Dhanbad MP PN Singh (73) today said that there is no age bar in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) constitution over contesting the election.
Singh, who inaugurated the studio of Lagatar in on Tuesday, said that neither the constitution of India nor the constitution of the party (BJP) has fixed any age for contesting the election, there is no relevance on talking about his successor on the Dhanbad Lok Sabha seat.
Singh, who would be over 75 years of age in the next Lok Sabha scheduled in 2024, in a query that several MLAs and leaders of the party (BJP) are claiming his Dhanbad seat, said that discipline is the base of BJP and he would not break it by disclosing the internal matter of the party at a public platform. So he would not comment over the claim of party leaders. Singh has the distinction of being Dhanbad district unit president as well as state president of the organization also refused to comment on party activities.
In the wake of rumours that are making rounds in Dhanbad- Bokaro political circle that PN Singh would not be given ticket for the 4th term as he would be above 75 years in 2024, several party leaders especially BJP Baghmara MLA Dhulu Mahto, Dhanbad sadar MLA Raj Sinha have announced that they are ready to take responsibility of contesting an election in Lok Sabha.
“ A few years ago senior party leader and union minister Kalraj Mishra ( now Rajasthan Governor) was asked a similar question in Bhopal over contesting the election as he was then around 75, he replied the same what I have said,” PN Singh said.
Singh, who became record three times MLA from Dhanbad Sadar and three times MP never tested defeat in his life right from the DMC election to Parliament, said it is party workers’ hard labour that he was able to sail through all the elections.
