Godda, Oct.8: The festivity of Durga Puja has dampened for the non-teaching employees of the Godda College following the denial of the festival advance by the college administration prompting them to take to the agitation recourse.

Furious over the denial of the facility the non teaching employees which they along with their colleagues at all the 13 constituent colleges and those posted at the SKM University headquarter otherwise used to avail ever since the University came into being, have locked the account section to mark their protest.

As a result of this protest, the salary of the teachers and other contractual employees for the month of September could not be released during this festive time. The college administration’s FIR lodged against the agitating employees with the Godda police has only added fuel to the anguish prevailing among them.

“This is for the first time in the history of the SKM University when festival advance to the non-teaching employees has been withheld in our college citing such instruction from the University administration. However, the fact is that our counterparts posted at other constituent colleges have availed the facility,” Rajesh Kumar, the secretary of the non-teaching employees association of the Godda College said.

Kumar further said that earlier the professor in-charge issued show-cause notices to all the 21 non-teaching employees of Godda College. “He accused us of an attempt to mislead him regarding the payment of festival advance in other constituent units of the SKMU, which otherwise is absolutely true and can be verified”, he added.

As per the previous practice, non-teaching employees working on third and fourth grade posts were paid Rs 50,000 and 40,000 respectively as festival advance which was realized from their salaries in the next 10 months.

The professor in-charge, on the other hand, refuted the allegations of the non-teaching employees association and said that he was directed not to release the festival advance through telephonic instruction by the competent official of the SKMU administration.

“For I have been directed by the SKMU administration not to release the festival advance through telephonic instruction, there is no question of going beyond the same,” the professor in-charge said.
