Ranchi, June 17: A frantic mob, drug addicts, and mentally ill people uncovered a gap in Jharkhand police security arrangements.
Two events in a row imply that the state police need to increase their patrols and intelligence collection in order to take preventative rather than curative actions.
The first incident occurred in Jharkhand’s capital. In the early hours of Thursday, the windows of roughly 15 automobiles were shattered. All of the vehicles were parked on the side of the road near Kusai Colony and JAP-01 Hospital Line, which is under the jurisdiction of the Doranda police station, and section 144 of the CrPC was applied in the area.
That offence was committed by a drug addict. When people emerged from their homes due to the sound of vehicles breaking glass, they discovered that all of the vehicles parked there had their windows shattered. Anshuman Kumar, the City SP, received the information. The City SP organised a team right away and asked to apprehend the person who shattered the glass.
Raja Kumar Mitra, Hatia DSP, and Doranda police station in-charge Inspector Ramesh Kumar Singh arrived at the scene with the rest of the police team. CCTV footage from surrounding businesses was examined. The camera shows that a man was indiscriminately shattering the windows of parked cars. He appeared to be inebriated. Nikhil Kumar, a resident of Nepal House near Doranda, was identified as the suspect. He was arrested and sent to jail.
Today, a second incident occurred in Gumla, roughly 100 kilometres from Jharkhand’s capital. A mentally ill youngster shattered the windscreens of around 40 vehicles parked alongside the road in various locations of the city, including Main Road, Jashpur Road, SS High School Gali, DSP Road, Ramnagar, and Laxman Nagar.
In the night between Thursday and Friday, between 12 and 2 a.m., there was an incidence of vehicle vandalism. People learned about the incident on Friday morning, and a large crowd gathered in the main road to demand that the police investigate the issue thoroughly and take appropriate action.
