Daltonganj, March 22: One candidate was expelled today following detection of the malpractice adopted by him at the PhD entrance test centre at the GLA college by Nilamber-Pitamber University (NPU).
Controller of the university examinations Dr Sheo Pujan Pd Singh said the decision to take this candidate off the PhD entrance test was taken on the report of the room in-charge and directive of the centre superintendent.
The candidate’s admit card and answer sheet have been segregated. The malpractice was that a lady teacher of an affiliated degree college of Panki was ‘illicitly aiding this candidate, an English PhD aspirant’. It was taken as a violation of the sanctity of the PhD entrance test held today.
The examination controller said that the lady teacher has been warned to be careful in future and she has been withdrawn from all ongoing works for the evaluation.
Altogether 359 students took their PhD entrance test in the GLA college. The percentage of presence was 85.47.
Nodal officer of the PhD entrance test Dr R K Jha said a total of 442 candidates had filed their applications for the PhD entrance test as against the 134 vacant seats.
Jha said 22 applications were of those candidates who were already NET qualified or JRF holders. These 22 candidates are exempted from taking the PhD entrance test.
