He said it is a special day for nurses all over the world. On 12 May, Florence Nightingale, the world’s first nurse, had taken birth at Florence in Italy.
“She had helped several sick, helpless, injured, disabled people in the War. That’s why people call her the idol of sacrifice and service,” he added.
Talking about the history of Nursing Day celebration he said: “The history of International Nurses Day begins in 1974 when May 12 was officially declared as Nurses Day by the International Nursing Council. Every year a special theme is kept for Nursing Day. This year’s theme is “Our nurse Our future.”
“The contribution of nursing in the field of medicine can never be forgotten as she serves and cares for the patients day and night. Medical field can never be complete without nurses. The nurse complements the doctor,” he further added.
