Deoghar, Aug 10: After engulfing the market of electronic and other goods, online shopping has entered the Rakhi market too.
The street vendors of the main market of Deoghar near Tower Chowk have decorated their stalls with different Rakhis whose cost varies from Rs 10 to Rs 120 per piece.
A vendor Amit Keshri says that the local market has revived after a gap of two years due to Covid-19. However this year, the online sale of Rakhi has become a challenge for the local market.
Amit said that almost the entire stock of Rakhi used to be sold before Raksha Bandhan every year. But this year, all stalls are full of unsold items.

Another vendor Sandeep Verma also agreed with the inclination of customers toward online marketing. He argued that the delayed delivery of the postal department and uncertainty of delivery by private courier has paved the way for the online marketing of Rakhi.
However, one vendor of the market said that online marketing of Rakhi is a new phenomenon but a large section of customers still prefers buying rakhis personally.
A middle-aged woman talking to Lagatar24.com correspondent echoed the same while another woman named Preeti Sinha, a private school teacher said that her daily life is very hectic and she couldn’t buy the Rakhi for his brothers who reside in Gurugram and Patna.
She said online shopping of rakhi seemed convenient to her as she was not sure if postal and private courier services would deliver the rachis to her brothers on time as she was already late in sending them.
