New Delhi: On the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, senior officers from India’s Army, Air Force, and Navy jointly disclosed details of the military operation, calling it a symbol of India’s firm resolve against terrorism and its support infrastructure.
Key Achievements of Operation Sindoor
Lieutenant General Rajeev Ghai, Air Marshal Awadhesh Bharti, and Vice Admiral AN Pramod revealed that during Operation Sindoor, India shot down 13 Pakistani aircraft, destroyed 11 bases, and neutralised over 100 Pakistani soldiers. The officers described the operation as a landmark moment in India’s military history, conducted one year after the Pahalgam terror attack of 2025 in which 26 innocent civilians were killed.
Professional Execution With Full Operational Freedom
Lieutenant General Rajeev Ghai, the then DGMO, paid tribute to the families of the 26 martyrs of Pahalgam before elaborating on the operation. He stated that the government gave the armed forces clear directives and professional freedom to carry out the mission. He added that Pakistan’s attempts to damage Indian military installations were completely foiled. He also highlighted that over 65 percent of defence equipment used in the operation was indigenously manufactured, reflecting the strength of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
Pakistan Forced to Seek Ceasefire
Ghai noted that Pakistan was compelled to come forward for talks and appealed for the operation to be stopped. Air Marshal Awadhesh Bharti confirmed that Operation Sindoor has been paused for now. He warned that if anyone mistakes India’s desire for peace as weakness, the armed forces are fully capable of responding decisively. He also stated that security forces had complete operational freedom throughout, and every retaliatory move by Pakistan was neutralised swiftly.
Navy Played Active Role in Strikes
Vice Admiral AN Pramod, Director General of Naval Operations, revealed that the Indian Navy deployed battle carrier groups, submarines, and other assets during the operation. The Navy actively participated in strikes and controlled Pakistani commercial routes, increasing economic pressure on Pakistan. He said the operation demonstrated India’s maritime capability and readiness to the entire world.
