Ranchi: Jharkhand’s weather continues to remain volatile through May, with the meteorological department issuing fresh alerts for thunderstorms, strong winds, and lightning across several districts over the coming days.
Orange Alert for May 15 and 16
The weather department has issued an orange alert for the central and northeastern parts of the state on May 15 and 16, with winds expected to reach 50 to 60 km/h along with lightning strikes. Districts under the orange alert include Ranchi, Khunti, Ramgarh, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Sahibganj, Pakur, Godda, Dumka, Deoghar, Jamtara, and Giridih.
Yellow Alert from May 12 to 14
A yellow alert has been issued from May 12 to 14 for most districts excluding the northwestern parts of the state. Winds of 40 to 50 km/h are expected in Hazaribagh, Koderma, Ramgarh, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Ranchi, Lohardaga, Gumla, Khunti, East and West Singhbhum, Seraikela-Kharsawan, and Simdega. Yellow alert will also continue for northeastern and southern districts on May 17 and 18.
Recent Rainfall and Temperature Data
In the past 24 hours, Ramgarh recorded the highest rainfall at 44.6 mm. Daltonganj remained the hottest area in the state with a maximum temperature of 39°C, while Namkum in Ranchi recorded the lowest minimum at 19.8°C.
Ranchi Temperature to Rise Gradually
Ranchi and surrounding areas will see partly cloudy skies with thundershowers over the next five days. The maximum temperature in Ranchi is expected to be 34°C on May 12, rising gradually to 38°C by May 16. The weather department has advised residents to stay in safe locations during storms and avoid standing under trees during lightning.
