Daltonganj, Aug 17: Palamu DC Shashi Ranjan has said that Medinirai Medical College Hospital (MMCH) Daltonganj is under-managed/ill-managed, adding there is a strong need to fine-tune the medical college hospital.
“I had sent a couple of Young Professionals from here to Khunti to see for themselves how the Sadar Hospital Khunti and MCH Khunti work there,” Ranjan, who had earlier been posted in Khunti, said.
Ranjan said, “Health is my priority sector. I will strive hard to better the MMCH.”
He said, “I am told the eye department of the MMCH leaves much to be desired. There is no effort for cataract surgery. Its number is pathetic.”
There are five eye doctors in the eye department in the MMCH but in terms of the deliverance it presents a very dismal picture.
Sources said quite recently there was eye flu or conjunctivitis raging all through the district but the eye department turned a blind eye to it.
Commenting on this, the DC said, “I know the fate of the cataract surgery here. At Khunti, we had an eye clinic on wheels which used to roam around the panchayats offering eye tests, suggesting power glasses or surgical procedures for which we had fixed a day and on this day cataract surgery used to be done. We used to give power glasses which come for around 75 rupees or so.”
