M F AHMAD

Daltonganj, June 11: Two hundred jawans of Jharkhand Armed Police 8 have rushed to Ranchi from its battalion base in Palamu’s Nilamber Pitamberpur block, old name Lesliganj.

Again 95 jawans of the JAP 8 are assisting the Palamu district armed police.

A senior police officer requesting  anonymity said, ” We have adequate police force to handle the situation despite 200 jawans of the JAP 8 going to Ranchi. JAP 8 has its independent institution all together.”

Palamu police are maintaining a high level of vigil right from rural pockets down to the urban areas.

One of the four sub divisional police officers in Palamu Surjit Kumar said some rumours do start floating but it is nipped in bud.

He said Palamu police have appealed to all law abiding and sensible citizens here to refrain from any emotional convulsion as any aberration will be met with toughest of tough action.

Last night a political party leader was detained and quizzed in one of the police stations in Palamu over obnoxious facebook posts, derogatory and insulting to people of one of faith.

Sadar sub divisional officer Rajesh Kr Sah said the administration acted too swift in this matter and the obnoxious facebook posts were deleted. The man promised not to behave any erratically any more now.

In the adjoining district Latehar, its SP Anjani Anjan launched Sadbhavna drive where in officers in charge of the police stations there in this district walked down the streets rubbing shoulders with people of all faith asking them their well being and then taking an assurance that they all will keep harmony and peace stronger and stronger in Latehar.

Anjani Anjan said his police officers had hit the streets on Friday evening itself.

Anjani Anjan said our HQ asked us to be vigilant and by that time our boys were out in the sensitive pockets.

SP Latehar said our officers marched everywhere from Mahuadnr to Balumath and strengthened their connect with the common people.

Sources said it was a novel way of Latehar police’s confidence building measures (CBM) in both the communities.

On being asked by lagatar.24com last night itself as to why he made his boys to take long strides in the streets and market areas to which Anjani Anjan said it was to make police force all visible to all.

SP Latehar Anjani Anjan said it served two purposes. First as our boys were out right in the day light of Friday before the onset of night, it conveyed a message that no rumbling of Ranchi would be able to find any echo here.

Second Anjani Anjan said this Sadbhavna march of  police officials and personnel helped them to get connected to people.

Sources said Sadbhavna march is a paradigm shift from the most hackneyed style of holding time worn peace committee meeting where’s white collared people and also permanent visitors to the police stations sit in the front row and deliver delicious speeches, much of its content having no truck with the situation for which the peace committee meeting is so convened.
