Palamu: Robbery in Tata-Jammu Tawi Express, passengers assaulted

Palamu, Sept 24: Dacoits attacked the Tata-Jammu Tawi Express traveling from Sambalpur to Delhi between the Chhipadohar and Barwadih stations in Latehar. Around eight to 10 dacoits assaulted passengers in the S9 coach of train number 18309 with lathis, sticks, and gun butts. The dacoits also fired gunshots to intimidate the passengers. It is reported that eight to 10 passengers were injured in this incident.

When the train reached the Daltonganj station after the incident, the passengers created a ruckus. The injured passengers were given medical treatment at the Daltonganj station, and then the train was allowed to continue its journey.

Regarding the incident, it is said that around 8-10 dacoits had entered Latehar station. When the train reached Chhipadohar station, the dacoits opened fire in the air and started beating the passengers with sticks, sharp weapons and gun butts. About 8 to 10 passengers were injured in this fight. After this, the dacoits looted jewellery, money and many other items and got off the train by stopping it before Barwadih station. When the train reached Daltonganj station, the passengers expressed their displeasure against the railway administration and created a ruckus. They also raised questions on railway safety.

Railway inspector in-charge Banarasi Yadav said that all the injured passengers were treated by calling doctors from MHCH. After treatment, everyone was escorted by GRPF police to Jammu. He said that on the basis of secret information, a team has been formed and a raid operation is being conducted to catch the criminals.
