Daltonganj July 18: Daltonganj police under the express direction of SP Chandan Kumar Sinha this intervening night of Monday -Tuesday was frantically searching for an O-negative blood group eligible for donating one unit of blood for a 55-year-old multiple ailments ridden poor woman Noor Jahan admitted to the ICU of the Lifeline Multispeciality in Daltonganj.

It was a battery rickshaw driver Chhotu Ali who phoned the SP begging him to arrange one unit of O negative group of blood for his mother Noor Jahan.

It is most opportune to mention here that man in the street in such distress straightway phones SP Chandan Kumar Sinha for arranging blood. Such calls never go amiss.

Here too Chhotu Ali’s call was well taken care of by the SP, who took down his What’s App number asking him to wait for some hours as getting O negative group blood donor is never easy.

The Assistant Superintendent of Police and SDPO Rishabha Garg got on the same job. Rudranand Saras, another junior police official, went looking for an O-negative group blood donor.

Ali had phoned the SP around 8 pm last night. By 11 pm the police had arranged a local Amar Kumar Bhanja having O negative group of blood.

The police team reached Amar through another helpful citizen Abhishek Kumar Komal.

The Daltonganj blood bank collected one unit of O negative group of blood from Amar Kumar Bhanja around 11.15 pm.

After its mandatory five tests, this unit of blood was given to Ali who is to give one unit of blood as its replacement.  The patient Noor Jahan got her blood transfusion last night itself.

Sources said the SP and his confidential office are the address for those who need blood at odd hours at night.

SP Sinha has himself donated blood on two occasions to help save road accident victims.

Speaking to this correspondent, Sinha said, “Our O negative group blood cops are away from here to Deoghar for Shravani Mela duty and hence our men spread out looking for civilians to donate blood. Our boys got one. Palamu police appreciate the humanitarian gesture of the man who donated one unit of O negative group of blood last night.”
