Patient jumps to death from third floor of Seraikela Sadar Hospital

Jamshedpur, Aug 20:  A 35-year-old patient committed suicide by jumping from the third floor of Seraikela Sadar Hospital in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district.

Identified as Harilal Mahto, a resident of Murakati village in Bana panchayat he took this extreme step early on Friday morning. His body was first spotted by the security guard of the hospital, who in turn reported the matter to the hospital administration.

Mahto was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday when he complained of uneasiness. He had kept fast on Tuesday on the occasion of Mansha Puja.

Hospital sources said after admission into the hospital his condition started improving from Wednesday evening.

” He had recovered from his illness and was supposed to be discharged from the hospital today. But, as fate had its way. This morning we came to know of his tragic end, ” said a doctor of Seraikela Sadar Hospital.

Seraikela police immediately rushed to the hospital and initiated a probe into the suicide case. The body was later sent for a post-mortem.

Hospital sources said Mahto’s wife was there in the hospital when he committed suicide.
