Ramgarh, Oct 3: Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam (PVUN) Ltd signed an MoU with Jharkhand Zoo Authority for adopting two Asiatic lions at the Bhagwan Birsa Biological Park for one year as a step toward conserving wildlife. The zoo is a pride of Jharkhand and is one of the major tourist attractions. It is home to about 1450 wild animals representing 83 different species of mammals, reptiles and birds.
The MoU was signed between Rajesh Dungdung, DGM(R&R) and Jabbar Singh, Member Secretary (Jharkhand Zoo Authority) for adopting a lion couple. As per the adoption policy, PVUN shall bear the expenditure for their feed over the year.
Notably, October 4 is celebrated as World Animal Day to raise awareness about improving the welfare standards of animals across the globe. It is observed to make the world a better place for all animals.
