Ranchi, July 21: Chief Minister Hemant Soren today gave a 15-day deadline to the police officers to improve the law-and-order situation in the state.
He gave directions during a meeting with senior police officers in maintenance of law and order. The meeting was organised a day after the NIA arrested a terrorist from Lohardaga and three days after a criminal shot at a Dy SP of the anti-terrorist squad of Jharkhand police and a police inspector in Patratu.
The CM expressed strong displeasure and told the police officers either to improve their working style or face consequences.
He said during the last few days, criminals have done the work of committing many heinous crimes, calling law and order maintenance a sham. “Such crimes are not acceptable under any circumstances. The criminal incidents happening at present are a matter of concern for the state. The police should ensure that strict action is taken against the criminals without any pressure so that there is no recurrence of criminal incidents,” he said.
State DGP Ajay Kumar Singh, ADG (Operation) Sanjay Anand Rao Latkar, IG (Operation) Amol Venukant Homkar, SP (ATS) Surendra Jha and other senior police officers were present on the occasion.
The CM asked DGP Singh about his problem in getting success in curbing crime when he has been given a free hand? The CM took complete information from the senior officers regarding criminal incidents taking place in the state. He also gave them many important guidelines.
He said the face of crime in the state is changing every day. “New crimes are being committed. Many crimes are being committed in a planned manner. Some people are trying their best to tarnish the image of the state government,” he said.
He asked the police officials to strengthen the information system and said he will not tolerate any negligence in crime control. He said maintenance of law and order in the state is the topmost priority of our government and asked them not to do any laxity in crime control.
State Chief Secretary Sukhdev Singh, Additional Chief Secretary Home Department Avinash Kumar, Secretary to Chief Minister Vinay Kumar Choubey and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
