Ballari, May 5: ‘The Kerala Story’ was highlighted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday during his speech at a rally in Ballari for the May 10 Karnataka Assembly election.

“They say, The Kerala Story is based on what happens in that beautiful state. But look at Congress. They are standing with terrorists and are trying to ban it,” said PM Modi.

“The Kerala Story film has exposed the terror conspiracy taking place in the beautiful state of Kerala. But look at the unfortunate situation in the country where the Congress is seen standing with this trend of terrorism that destroys societies. Not just this, the Congress is also taking part in backdoor political negotiations with those who are linked to this trend of terrorism,” PM Modi added while addressing a rally in Karnataka’s Ballari.

Since its teaser was released in November 2022, The Kerala Story has stirred up controversy and received criticism from various parts of Kerala

According to the teaser, the terrorist organisation Islamic State recruited 32,000 women from Kerala who had converted to Islam.

The Censor Board gave The Kerala Story an “A” certification and reportedly cut 10 scenes, including an interview with a former chief minister of Kerala.

In a recent development, the film’s producer, Vipul Amrutlal Shah, agreed on Friday (May 5) to remove the trailer that made a claim that more than 32,000 women from Kerala were recruited by ISIS. The teaser will be taken off  from their social media accounts, the producer today informed the Kerala High Court.

Today, a movie about how young Hindu women are allegedly radicalised and converted to Islam in Kerala before being recruited into the terrorist group Islamic State (IS) is released in theatres.
