Jamshedpur, Aug 31: The police busted a mini-liquor factory at Rangatand village under Chandil thana area in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district in the early hours on Thursday.
While busting the unauthorised liquor factory, the police arrested two persons and seized a huge quantity of finished liquor and liquor manufacturing equipment as well as raw materials used for making the stuff.
Those arrested were identified as Rajesh Kumar and Sonu Kumar, both residents of Bihar and Bhuiyandih in Jamshedpur respectively.
Revealing about the breakthrough, the Chandil sub-divisional police officer, Sanjay Kumar Singh said that both the arrested persons would make the illicit Indian-made foreign liquor by taking a portion of a house on rent at Rangatand.
“The finished liquor would find its way into various liquor dens in the slums in the steel city and also in Adityapur and Gamharia. A section of Rangatand residents had tipped off us about the liquor racket which was being run clandestinely for the past one year, ” said the SDPO while talking to lagatar24.com.
The police officer pointed out that as the liquor manufactured at the Rangatand was in popular brands, the accused would not find it difficult to sell them out to unauthorised liquor outlets and dhabas.
Singh said the house owner has also been booked in a case for letting a portion of his house for running the illegal activity, but he has managed to escape.
