Dhanbad, Nov 26: Dreams of poor families to get their own flat in the coal city are going to be fulfilled soon. Dhanbad Municipal Corporation (DMC) has decided to provide flats to poor families in Dhanbad township area at the rate of Rs 3.64 lakh. Registration procedure for flats will begin shortly from today.
DMC is going to build 320 flats in the first phase under its ambitious ‘Kifayati Awas Yojna’. For this project, DMC has selected 3.80 acres of land in Baramuri, under Sadar police station area for construction of three –storey buildings.
Town commissioner, Satyendra Kumar, informed the media that registration for flats will be started after a groundbreaking ceremony today. “If we get more registrations than the fixed flats (320), a lottery system will be adopted for selection of the families,” he said.
The amount for registration is Rs 5000. Identity card, passbook copy, bank account number, Aadhar Card copy and mobile number are required for registration of these flats.
One flat comprising one bed room, one living room, kitchen and wash room will be in 320 SF. The total cost of the flat is Rs. 6.14 lakh but the state government has decided to provide Rs 2.5 lakh subsidy on each flat.
DMC officials said that the families who have been living in DMC area since June 17, 2015, have an annual income not more than 3 lakh and don’t have a ‘pucca’ house in any part of the country can take benefit of this ambitious project.
According to the sources, three acres of land has also been spotted in Amghata area for ‘Awas Yojna’ besides Baramuri. The proposal has been sent for consideration of the deputy commissioner so that more flats could be made for covering maximum poor families.
