New Delhi, Jan 25: Delhi’s covid restrictions would be relaxed soon, according to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Last week, he claimed, some traders met with him and demanded that weekend curfews, from 10 p.m. on Fridays to 5 a.m. on Mondays and the odd-even rule for shop openings be abolished.
Today’s infection rate in the capital will be 10%, he noted. On January 15, the highest percentage was 30%.
“When Covid cases rise, we are forced to impose restrictions and people face difficulties. We only bring in restrictions that are needed,” said Kejriwal.
The Chief Minister pointed out that he had sent proposals to lift restrictions to the Lieutenant Governor but he did not accept it. “We will together lift the restrictions soon,” he added.
He also informed that in national capital, 100% of people have got the first dose and 82% of people have received both doses of the Covid vaccine.
In light of the lowering number of Covid cases, the Delhi administration suggested relaxing weekend curfews in the national capital on Friday. The file was sent to Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal’s office for clearance, however it was turned down.
