New Delhi, June 9: The Delhi Police have booked several people, including suspended BJP spokeswoman Nupur Sharma, expelled leader Naveen Jindal, and journalist Saba Naqvi, for allegedly propagating hate messages amid the row over the comments made about the Prophet.
Two FIRs have been filed by the Delhi Police, one against Nupur Sharma and the other against people accused of making “controversial” utterances on a regular basis.
Nupur Sharma was listed in the first FIR, while Naveen Jindal, Shadab Chauhan, Sab Naqvi, Maulana Mufti Nadeem, Abdur Rehman, Gulzar Ansari, and Anil Kumar Meena were named in the second.
The Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operation (IFSO) unit of the Special Cell of Delhi Police has filed a FIR against people for “inciting various groups and creating situations that are damaging to the country’s national peace.”
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (IFSO) KPS Malhotra, the FIR is against multiple people of various religions.
The team will look into the role of social media platforms in spreading false information with the goal of causing disturbance in online, which has consequences in the actual world, undermining the country’s social fabric, according to Malhotra.
