PSA oxygen plants to be operational soon at Dhanbad Sadar hospital, SNMMCH

Dhanbad, Aug 27: PSA oxygen plants of 1000 litres per minute (LPM) capacity at Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) and Sadar hospital would begin operating soon.

After reviewing the installation progress of the plants, ADM, law and order, cum nodal officer Kumar Tarachand directed concerned officials to conduct a trial of plants on a priority basis within two days so that it could start generation as soon as possible.

For combating the possible third wave of  Covid-19 infection, the Dhanbad District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has installed a 1000 LPM capacity PSA oxygen plant at the medical college hospital (SNMMCH) and Sadar hospital from the District Mineral Fund Trust (DMFT). Both the hospitals were main treatment centres in the district during the first and second waves of the Corona pandemic besides selected private and public sectors health centres.

“Civil work for the plants at both the hospitals has almost been completed,” he said. The ADM law and order has  also directed that workforce should be provided training in handling the PSA oxygen plant before deploying them there.

The Dhanbad Disaster Management Authority has already made a medical oxygen plant mandatory for all private hospitals and health centres which has  50 beds and above. Besides,  the Nodal officer has also directed private hospitals/ nursing homes to provide a list of their available doctors, nursing staff, number of ICU, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Paediatrics ICU and general beds to the civil surgeon (CS).
