New Delhi: Early trends in the bypolls to four assembly seats in Punjab reveal the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leading in three constituencies—Gidderbaha, Dera Baba Nanak, and Chabbewal—while the Congress is ahead in Barnala.

Chabbewal: AAP Secures Early Advantage

In Chabbewal, AAP’s Ishank Kumar Chabbewal is leading against Congress candidate Ranjit Kumar after nine rounds of counting as of 11:18 am. BJP candidate Sohan Singh Thandal trails in the third spot.

Gidderbaha: AAP’s Dimpy Dhillon Holds Lead

Hardeep Singh Dimpy Dhillon of AAP is ahead of Congress candidate Amrita Warring after four rounds of counting. Amrita Warring, wife of Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, is running a close race. Former Punjab finance minister and BJP candidate Manpreet Singh Badal holds the third position.

Barnala: Tight Contest With Congress Leading

Barnala witnessed a dynamic contest, with Congress candidate Kuldeep Singh Dhillon overtaking AAP’s Harinder Singh Dhaliwal after ten rounds. BJP’s Kewal Singh Dhillon remains in the third position.

Dera Baba Nanak: Close Battle Favors AAP

AAP’s Gurdeep Singh Randhawa is leading against Congress’ Jatinder Kaur Randhawa after nine rounds. The Congress candidate is the wife of Gurdaspur MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa. BJP’s Ravikaran Kahlon lags behind in third place.

Bypoll Background

The bypolls, conducted on November 20, were necessitated after the incumbent legislators vacated their assembly seats following their election to the Lok Sabha earlier this year. Counting of votes commenced at 8 am today.
