Notably, the popular Punjabi singer was shot on Sunday, a day after the authorities reduced his security.
On Friday morning, protests against the police and the state administration erupted outside Sidhu Moosewala’s home. The barrier erected around the property enraged the locals. The cops are accused of preventing the family from entering the house. Protesters also stopped AAP MLA Gurpreet Banawali, but the AAP leader apologised on behalf of the cops.
The Congress has blamed the ruling administration for the murder and demanded an investigation by a central agency.
A delegation led by Punjab Congress chairman Amarinder Singh Warring met with governor Banwari Lal Purohit on Wednesday to discuss the issue. Partap Singh Bajwa, the state assembly’s leader of opposition, had also chastised the AAP for failing to meet with the bereaved family.
Later on Thursday, Punjab finance minister Harpal Cheema and rural development minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal visited the singer’s house.
