Chandigarh, Jan 22: Bhagwant Mann, the Aam Aadmi Party’s chief ministerial candidate, has challenged Punjab Chief Minister and Congress politician Charanjit Singh Channi to run in the Dhuri seat against him.
Bhagwant Mann said, “I can’t fight from Chamkaur Sahib (constituency of Charanjit Channi) as it is a reserved seat, but he can fight from Dhuri. I welcome him.”
Mann will run for the Dhuri Assembly constituency in the Punjab election.
Bhagwant Mann, an MP from the Sangrur district, represents the constituency. On January 18, he was chosen the party’s chief ministerial face after receiving more than 93 percent of the vote in a phone poll.
The Dhuri constituency is currently represented by Congress MLA Dalvir Singh Khangura. The fight with the Congress will be intense, as it has been since Arvind Khanna won the seat in 2012.
