Jamshedpur, May 20: Railway parking contractor Neeraj Dubey was injured after a gang of criminals launched an armed attack on him at the Tatanagar parking area under railway thana area on Friday night.
Dubey who sustained bullet injuries in the neck and right hand has been admitted to the Tata Main Hospital where his condition is described as out of danger.
According to rail police, the criminals had fired six shots targeting Dubey by taking cover of a stationary auto-rickshaw on the parking area.
On apprehending danger, Dubey had tried to flee the spot, but about five attackers chased him and continued to fire at him. But when Dubey’s associates rushed to the spot for his rescue, the attackers managed to escape.
Later a railway police party arrived at the scene and tried to identify the attackers by taking CCTV footage.
Shooting at a public place like railway station parks was a grievous thing to happen as scores of people use to visit the parking area round-the-clock every day.
A railway police officer had on Friday visited Tata Main Hospital for taking statement from the gun-shot injured admitted there. Dubey who is brother of gangster Pankaj Dubey is learned to have revealed the names of three of the attackers — Vishal, Ashutosh and Pagla Raja.
Railway police are trying to arrest those involved in the armed attack by conducting raids at Jugsalai and Bagbera thana areas with the help of local police.
