Rain and thunderstorm alert in Jharkhand for next 72 hours

Jamshedpur, May 17:  IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre issued a forecast of light to moderate rain with thunderstorm activity in several parts of Jharkhand during the next 72 hours.

Weathermen said the prevailing weather condition is conducive to triggering Nor’wester activity which usually takes place in the Chotta Nagpur plateau region during this time of the season.

The thunderstorm and lightning are expected to be accompanied by strong surface wind (speed: 30-40 Kmph)  at isolated places over the state.

Statistics of the past 24- hours suggested light to moderate rain with thunderstorm activity at a few places while gusty wind was also reported at isolated places over Jharkhand.

The highest maximum temperature of 42.6°C was recorded at Daltonganj while the lowest minimum temperature of  21.7°C was recorded at Jamshedpur.

Reports of rain poured in from various places including   Ghatshila, Manjari, Nandadih,  Jamshedpur, Simdega,  Kolebira, Jamtara, Maithon, Putki, Chakradharpur, Hazaribagh and Pakur, during the past 24 hours.
