Ramgarh, Oct 3: A cop saved a woman from drowning in the strong water flow in the Damodar river on Sunday. The woman was identified as Poornima Devi, a resident of Binjhar in Naisarai of Ramgarh district.
Ramgarh SP Piyush Pandey appreciated the courageous work of constable 104 Sudhir Singh of Ramgarh District Police Force, who saved the woman. He also rewarded the constable with a citation and cash of Rs 5000 for saving the life of the woman with indomitable courage.
On October 2, an event on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri was being celebrated on the bank of the Damodar river. During this, people spotted the woman drowning in the river. Everyone ran towards the river when DDC’s bodyguard Sudhir and one other person, without caring for their lives, jumped into the river and pulled the drowning woman out of the river safely. The woman was later sent to the hospital by ambulance.
