Ramgarh, Feb 12: The Ramgarh DC cum District Election Officer late on Saturday held a press conference along with Superintendent of Police Piyush Pandey and Electoral Office cum subdivision colleague Mohammad Javed Hussain in view of the upcoming Ramgarh assembly by-election.
The Ramgarh DC said that the nomination process has ended and a total of 20 candidates had filed nominations for the by-election, however, due to an error during scrutiny, the nomination of two candidates Sanjay Kumar and Nitesh Kumar Sinha was cancelled. As a result, the total number of contesting candidates is 18.
Of these, two candidates are of recognized national and state political parties and two others are of registered political parties. The other 14 candidates are independents. Notably, after the withdrawal process, all candidates have been allotted the election symbols.
Ramgarh DC said that all necessary preparations are being made by the district administration for the successful conduction of the by-elections. The basic facilities are also being reviewed by regularly inspecting polling stations and clusters.

In view of the by-election, the work is being reviewed through regular meetings with the senior officials of the various cells. Sector magistrates have been given training in two phases. During the investigation, the police have also seized liquor and cash worth Rs 22 lakh so far.
Moreover, various awareness programmes were organised by Voter Awareness Cell in Skill Development Institute Ramgarh, Chitarpur College Chitarpur, Barlanga High School Gola, near Rajarappa Temple Complex and other areas on Saturday.
On the occasion, the students and others were informed of the voting to be held on February 27 through programmes including Rangoli, signature campaign, selfie campaign, and voter awareness oaths.
Meanwhile, SP Piyush Pandey said that the borders of Ramgarh district have been sealed before the Ramgarh assembly by-election. Overall, 13 check posts have been made and an intensive investigation campaign is being conducted through these.
At present, a thorough investigation campaign is also being conducted by five static surveillance teams and three flying squad teams in three shifts each.
