Ramgarh, Oct 31: Anti-social elements, in an effort to spoil the communal harmony of Ramgarh town on the occasion of Chhath, threw garbage peels on the roads early Monday morning. Hindu organisations have opposed this and demanded action against the culprits.
Hundreds of supporters of Hindu organisations protested in front of the Ramgarh police station. Former vice-president of Ramgarh Cantonment board Anmol Singh along with nominated member Keerty Gawrav of Ramgarh Cantonment board, and others have lodged a written complaint against this in the Ramgarh police station.
Several Chhath Puja committees have also postponed their programmes as a protest against this act.
According to sources, dirt and egg shells were found scattered throughout the route to the Damodar river ghat from the Purni Mandap of Goalpar in the city on Monday morning. Signs of urination were also found in many places. Information about the incident spread in the area as wildfire. Soon after this, local Chhath Puja committees closed their DJ sets and took down electrical decorations as a protest.
Ramgarh police reached the spot and investigated the matter. Meanwhile, the locals cleaned the dirt and made paths suitable for Chhath devotees. After the completion of Chhath Puja, at around 9 am, several members of Hindu organisations from all over the town gathered near Golpar.
People began protesting against the incident. Loud slogans were also chanted in front of the police station. People have demanded action against those miscreants.
