Ramgarh, Oct 6: A father-daughter duo from Rajrappa Project under Ramgarh district has created waves with their film ‘Natok’ which has been appreciated across the globe.
The film has recently been awarded the Busan New Wave Short Film Festival 2022 for Best Direction. The film is directed by Shubhanshi, while the camera work and editing have been done by Partha Bhattacharjee. It has been produced and written by Shubhanshi’s father Shubhasish Chakraborty.

Shubhanshi Chakraborty is a 15-years-old junior year humanities student and says she has grown up in a family that believes in individual social responsibility.
She spent a lot of time as a child in a tribal village adopted by her father, which made her fascinated by their festivals and rituals. She says she attempted to showcase the life of tribal dancers and the nuances of their lives through the film.
She has done a film orientation course at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) and believes that films are actual change enablers. Shubhanshi is inspired by her father Shubhasish who is a social scientist while discharging his duties as a Senior Official in a global conglomerate.
Shubhasish is an expert on tribal affairs, a TedX speaker, poet and short story writer who works tirelessly in the field of Community Development.
Natok, in English means ‘drama or a play’. The film takes viewers into the naïve mind of a young boy who tries to comprehend the dichotomy of multiple roles a human plays in life. He is trying to encompass the authenticity of the contrasting roles we stage every day.
