Dhanbad July 7: Famous gynaecologist Dr Santawana Sharan of Ramgarh would head the five-member committee of the Jharkhand chapter of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Mission Pink Health as chairman.
Besides Dr Santawana Sharan, Dr Meeta Sinha of Bokaro ( vice-chairman), Dr Anupam Singh of Ramgarh (secretary), Dr Swati Chaitanya of Ranchi (joint secretary) are other office bearers in the new committee constituted by the IMA state chapter.
Dr Amita Ray of Giridih district, who is considered a torchbearer of Mission Pink Health, has been made convener of the committee to carry out the programme of the national and state chapters of the IMA for bailing out adolescent girls of Jharkhand.
“ The IMA Mission Pink Health, commonly known as MPH, is a very important wing of the state IMA as well as the national body which is aimed at improving the general health and eradicating anaemia among adolescent girls. Since the IMA MPH is dedicated to community services, it has been reconstituted with experienced and dedicated gynaecologists of the state,” said IMA president Dr AK Singh and Secretary Dr Pradip Kumar Singh.
Dr Pradip Kumar Singh said the Jharkhand MPH wing has a tremendous record in executing the programme (bailing out numbers of girls from diseases) and has been awarded several times with national awards in this field.
Dr Santawana Sharan is presently vice-president of the East Zone IMA team for women ( MPH) and was coordinator of the Jharkhand MPH. She was also national secretary of the IMA MPH from 2020-21. She holds at least two to three camps in Ramgarh and nearby districts per month for educating and bailing out the anaemic girls in rural regions.
The Secretary of the new committee famous gynaecologist Dr Anupam Singh is a private practitioner but she devotes more time to helping needy girls. She is the wife of Jharkhand Health Service Association (JHSA) secretary Dr Thakur Mritunjay Kumar Singh.
Vice-chairman Dr Meeta Singh is also a famous gynaecologist and participates in social activities in Bokaro, Joint secretary Dr Swati Chaitanya of Ranchi is a medical officer posted in Lohardagga.
