Ranchi, July 30: The first batch of taxi drivers’ training was held at Don Bosco tech society, Kokar on Saturday under the aegis of Bosco Academy for Skills and Employment (BASE).
The program is being funded by Mahindra Finance under the Swabhimaan project. It is a 40-day program in which both theoretical as well as practical training related to driving will be given to the trainees.
In the first batch, a total of 35 trainees between the age of 18 to 30 enrolled themselves. It includes 15 girls and 20 boys.
Azad Oraon, automotive trainer & center coordinator, said that the training will help the enrolled students to learn proper driving and later it can help them in getting jobs related to driving.
The state operations head Wakais Alam added that the response has been good so far and they are hoping that more students will enroll in the coming days.
He added that one of the main reasons to conduct the training program is to teach the upcoming generations proper aspects related to driving and produce good drivers through this training program.
“Since people think that girls cannot be good drivers and to remove that taboo from the society, the training is open for girls as well and we are happy to see many young girls have enrolled themselves for the program,” he said.
Ritu Monika Tigga, a student enrolled in the program, said that the course has been beneficial for her as she has no prior experience in driving. She believes that after the completion of program, she will have enough confidence to drive in heavy traffic.
