Ranchi, June 22: More than 24 hours after the supporters of AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi welcomed him raising “Pakistan Zindabad” slogans at Birsa Munda Airport in the Jharkhand capital, the district administration finally registered an FIR.

“No one is named in the FIR, which was registered last night around 11pm on the basis of information of Hehal Circle Office,” said officer-in-charge of Airport police station Anand Kumar confirming the development.

Asked about the sections under which the FIR was registered, OC Kumar sought time to share. “Let me reach court first then I will be able to talk to you properly in the matter,” Kumar said after confirming the development in the matter of ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogan.

Earlier, SDO of Ranchi Sadar area Deepak Kumar Dubey had constituted a two-member committee consisting of Dy S.P (Hatia) Raja Kumar Mitra, and Hehal Circle Officer Om Prakash Mandal to probe the matter after he came to know through different media reports regarding the incident.

Owaisi was in Ranchi on Sunday to address an election rally organised in favour of BJP rebel Dev Kumar Dhan contesting Mandar bypoll as an independent candidate. As he landed in Ranchi, a section of his supporters raised the ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogan to welcome him but neither the security personnel deputed there nor Owaisi took exception to this.

Owaisi left the airport for Mandar before holding the BJP and the JMM both responsible for the June 10 violence. After addressing a rally in favour of BJP rebel Dhan, he met the family members of those killed during June 10 violence erupted during a protest march organised without permission of the district administration to condemn the derogatory statement given by suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma regarding Prophet Mohammed.

It was not for the first time Jharkhand Police is taking action in such a matter.

Earlier, on April 21 this year an FIR was registered against 10 persons for raising pro-Pakistan slogans at Giridih. The action was taken after a video went viral in which a pro-Pakistan slogan was raised (‘Pakistan Zindabad’) during a procession of nomination filing for panchayat election under Gandey police station area. Later Mukhiya candidate Md Shakir and his two supporters, Asif and Sohaib, were arrested in this connection.
